So in the next few posts I will be giving you more examples of the DIY projects at the summerhouse. We tried to be super smart and do things as cheaply as possible but make it look as expensive as possible at the same time!
We are still so amazed by all the support and compliments we got for the changes and loads of questions as to where we got all these different things. So here is the first project: The captain's mirror.
We would have loved to buy the original but apparently the price for one of those is about 1500$ so that wasn't really going to be happening at the summerhouse, so we got the idea to make our own DIY style.
Many have done similar projects already and I will share couple of links to those here at the bottom, this is however how we made ours:
Firstly we bought a round wooden tray from IKEA.
Then we painted the sides of the tray like shown here above. We used Martha Stewart paint like you can see on the image above, but I'm pretty sure you can use just about any paint you have or spray paint as long as it sticks to the wood.
Glue the mirror on the inside of the tray..
and put small hooks on the sides, we then attached black chain we already had in our storage..
Tadaaaaa ready and done and at it's final place at the summerhouse!
here are some more DIY Captain's mirrors:
