It‘s time to introduce Crabtree & Evelyn.
„Explore everything, keep the best” was the botanist, John Evelyn‘s motto and these words continue to inspire Crabtree & Evelyn.
Crabtree & Evelyn was founded in 1972 by Cyrus Harvey. The name Crabtree & Evelyn was inspired by John Evelyn, a 17th century botanist, and the English Crab-apple tree, known for its beauty and use in home apothecary. Initially a small, family run business, the first store specialised in fine soaps sourced from around the world.
One man's passion for travel coupled with an inherent desire for natural products, set the foundation for creating an international brand renowned the world over for its fragrances, body care products, fine foods and beautifully packaged gifts.
Cyrus collected soaps and lotions made by small manufacturers around the world. What started as a vocation soon became a strong business proposition with customers delighting in the interesting and unique products available.
Founded 40 years ago by Cyrus Harvey, Crabtree & Evelyn has evolved since 1972 from a small, family-run business specialising in fine soaps from around the world, to an international company with over 500 stores worldwide.
Today the brand is renowned and respected for its original fragrances, fine foods and gorgeous gifts, all beautifully packaged to transform the ordinary rituals of daily life into extraordinary pleasurable experiences.
When we opened our first store in Akureyri me and my sister went to our wholesaler and chose couple of collections to offer to our customers. We have increased that range in our Reykjavík based store and we now offer in total 6 collections and a variety of travel sized hand care lotions.
La source can be described as a crisp, clean scent of refreshing aquatic notes, musk, and gentle shoreline breezes. (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík and at Akureyri)
Avocado, Olive & Basil is one of the most popular collection in our stores: A green herbal scent featuring crisp notes of lemon, energising cypress, and vibrant accords of avocado and olive blossoms. (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík and at Akureyri)
Pear and pink Magnolia is our sweetest collection. The enticing aroma of fresh, juicy pear is blended with the delicate floral notes of pink magnolia, jasmine and osmanthus in an aromatic, botanical story that brings to mind cherished riches of the natural world. (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík and at Akureyri)
Pomegranate, Argan & Grapeseed is a very fresh collection and is now prominently featured at our round welcoming table at our Reykjavík based store. The tart sweetness of pomegranate coupled with a burst of citrus and fresh fig leaf. (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík)
Caribbean Island Wild Flower is our personal favourite. The delicate spider lily is at the heart of this fragrance. Softly blended with island wild flowers, tropical citrus fruits, night blooming jasmine and sea air accords, it conjures up the feeling of long relaxing days spent on a tranquil Caribbean island. (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík and at Akureyri)
Finally we don‘t leave our gentlemen „hanging“ and offer Moroccan Myrrh. A distinguished fragrance of myrrh blended with the lively notes of bergamot and cardamom with a warm amber base. The gift sets from this collection have been really popular and what a great idea: you shop something pretty for yourself and get rid of all guilty conscience by sprucing your hubby with some wonderful scent, and really it‘s a win: win for everybody! (Available in Systur & Makar in Reykjavík and at Akureyri)
Now besides our collections we also offer a variety of travel sized hand care lotions in 25gr packaging. Perfect to try out the quality and scent.
