The Golden circle and Snaps.
To continue with our little story about last weekend with our friends.
Well we picked them up at the hotel on Saturday at 12:00, they had then been out and about, took a stroll in down-town Reykjavík, had breakfast at Café Paris which they were very happy with. Went to check out Harpa concert hall and walked up to Hallgrímskirkja our largest church and enjoyed the weather that had fortunately changed it's forecast to sunny and sweet! We couldn't believe it, it was supposed to be raining all weekend but the weather gods were super nice to us!
So we went to a little tourist drive, started with visiting Helga's beautiful summerhouse but she had ordered Danish open sandwiches called "Smørrebrød" and cold Icelandic beers!
Her summerhouse is absolutely lovely and so well styled, we love it!
Yeah, it was all right...!! :)
We then drove to the observation platform next to Þingvellir, our national park to take a look at Almannagjá.
Then we checked out Geysir and saw a small one called "Strokkur" blow. ("we didn't see that coming, ha! Suzanne?!) :)
Finally we went to see Gullfoss and on the way home, us "non drivers", enjoyed the view with one ice-cold beer!
If you are into food... like AT ALL you simply MUST visit this place! it is wonderful!
That evening Gunna our friend joined us for a meal at Snaps, I must recommend this place! The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is buzzing, young and fun and the service it top notch! If you ever get the change to visit please do! The only thing is, is that you can't order a table, just arrive and wait at the cellar bar lounge until your name is called. It is completely fine, but just so you know, it can take a bit of time for the wait., but well worth it if you have the time to kill! Check it here: Snaps.
We ended the night at two lovely Hotel bars: Skylounge and 101 Hotel.
The evening was super fun, lots of laughs and joking about, idiotic comments and to explain it the best: "Friendships growing stronger!"
Create your own happiness!
