You may say my sister and I have been very ambulant last weekend. Katla & Tóta travelled about the south with their Scottish friends while me and my family stayed in Stykkishólmur in my parent’s summerhouse. We love this place, it is always equally beautiful there, in every which weather but especially during the summertime when the harbour is buzzing with tourists and locals that bring everything to life!
We checked out a wonderful art exhibition in Tang & Riis, but the artist: Ingibjörg H Ágústsdóttir has a workshop there as well as a gallery. At the moment she is showing bas-relief's of the islands in the fjord, each one more beautiful than the other!
The artist is educated as a fashion designer but she is also really great working the carving knife and her pieces are so alive and suit everybody, young and old!
The house is another chapter: it is so well organized and the decoration and finishes are remarkable! She blends a workshop and a gallery in “one” in the old basement of this historical building. In the olden days it used to be a retail outlet called Tang & Riis and the basement used to be its warehouse.
Original designer shelves called “Hansa-shelves” adorn the space among beautifully renovated teak furniture’s that are very tastefully arranged in the space which gives this rustic basement a warm fairy tale flavour!
Such a homy gallery

If you can’t visit this exhibition: EYJAR (meaning ISLANDS) in Stykkishólmur, I really recommend you checking out her site: www.bibi.is Her work is well worth the look!
I personally have a dream of getting a raven head by her, just you know, if somebody close to me needs a gift inspiration for me ;)
