My girl Tóta is raised at Þórshöfn, a small fisherman's town in north-east of Iceland. She has brought me here to visit couple of times a year since we began dating. Her parents live here and so do three of her childhood friends that have "moved back home". So there are many to look up and everybody kind of knows everybody.. I drink the most coffee here of all places!
Þórshöfn is a small town with a population of about 380 people, a beautiful harbour and untouched nature.
After covering some working shifts at our store in the north we decided to take my sister María and her family on a trip to show them her childhood town.
Tota's parents welcomed us all to their home and the hospitality at that amazing "Hotel Mum" is amazing! Every day we had incredible meals, breakfast buffet I mean you can only imagine!
We drove to Langanes peninsula but on the way they have a really sweet observation platform overlooking the sea and very lively bird cliff.
(María, Tota's little niece went on the trips with us).
Tota's father has a small boat that we took on a little trip to fish and enjoy some wonderful weather. There were sea gulls that chased the boat, fantastic experience!
This was a fantastic weekend with loads of new and fun experiences! If you ever get the change to visit Iceland and have some "extra time" during your travels, we recommend visiting Þórshöfn. So much untouched nature, fine camping site, guest-house, swimming pool , and a lovely church and a museum called Sauðaneshús.
