Mekkín my niece really is like a wonder-kid, well now she is a beautiful, fully grown educated and a very smart woman, but she will still always be a “kid” to me! She woke up early and prepared a very jummy breakfast, we are talking bacon, eggs, and buns with cheese and ham the whole shenanigans, oh yes and she also baked a little sugar free banana bread from scratch! Spoiled we were indeed!
What a great start to the day!
I loved the fact that we all had the same style of toothbrush and in the same colour! Don’t really need much eh!
The day ahead was spent walking about in the city and checking out the main shopping street Strøget as well as the small intersecting streets there around. I admit we were a little “grey” after all the cocktails from the night before so the day was really just supposed to be kept calm and relaxed with no agenda and only do a little shopping if we fell over anything interesting on the way.
I feel the Danish spent less time on their smartphones at coffee-houses and restaurants than the Icelanders do.

Well actually we had one thing planned for the day and that was to go to Daily but they serve these amazing baked cheesecakes! Oh so very nice indeed and we ordered one lemon and merengue we enjoyed to bits but it had no take on the gluten free (simply a plus) chocolate and berry cheesecake! I mean that one rumbled my life a little! I set myself a goal for 2016 to learn how to make baked cheesecakes. Pretty sure there will be some adventurous Sundays in my nearest future…
I also especially noticed that I believe the Danes spend less time on their smartphones when at coffee-houses and restaurants! I really applaud that and that is my second goal for 2016, spend less time with head faced on a screen, watch people and listen more!
It was a bit cold in the city so when we stumbled on these lovely black and white striped, fleece lined, ultra-soft mittens, we went all matchy matchy and warm and fuzzy!

We got our body temperatures back to normal Celsius levels by popping into couple of stores on the walk. I had actually set myself another goal (dude, stop with the goals already!) but that was to not shop at large chains like H&M but rather support smaller stores and boutiques. This was in fact a rather difficult task whereas I found so many sweet things at H&M that I like really, really wanted, but stubborn little me stuck to my gut and kept my wallet away from the cashier! I did in fact make a purchase at Gina Tricot and another at Monki, yes those are chains but without a doubt way smaller than H&M so I thought I did pretty well, considering. I also got some great unique finds at smaller designer boutiques that I just loved!
I wish to emphasize that this decision was solely my choice and by doing this I am not by any means criticizing other people’s choices to shop at large chains, smaller boutiques or a little of both. Merely a humble little experiment and a choice I tend to keep regardless of other people’s decisions! So shop away dears, I will for sure not try to stop you! :)
After all the walking we were at a starving stage and my sister and niece have this serious fetish for Indian food. After spending her time in Copenhagen my niece had of course found this little place that served an all you can eat, Indian buffet (did I mention fetish?)
So there we went and filled our plates with all sorts of delicious courses but the funny thing about strong and spicy food, you can’t really stuff your tummy, have you ever noticed? Is that the secret behind all the fit Indians and Asians.. Spicy food! I really should exercise my chilli tolerance!
The food was great and we chucked it down with passion fruit juice, recommended by the waiter. The desserts looked delish also and I had a little try of everything and got this great professional looking photo, but it was sickly sweet and not at all our cup of tea.
Later that night a plate of dark chocolate was much more satisfying!
After all the eating and walking we headed home for a little cosy time at the sofa where we watched The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Wonderful feel-good film that reminded myself a little of The Devil Wears Prada.
I recommend this one for the next girl’s night in for sure!
