Trivets: heat resistant mat made of recycled tires and cut in a water jet cutter.
The rubber trivets are very durable, dishwasher safe and work especially well on delicate worktops such as glass and other scratch sensitive furniture’s. The trivets are a home décor whether in use or not.
Gúmmívinnslan hf. was founded in 1982 and its original purpose/intent was the recycling of rubber. Its first process was to recycle truck tire-rubber. During the recycling, unused rubber is used to produce various other useable things, such as safety mats for children’s playgrounds, floorings, fishing equipment and more.
These processes facilitate the protection of the environment and the progression of profitable production from materials other wise not used.
The Rose: the pattern design of the mat is based on the eight-budded rose that is known to many from traditional Icelandic craft tradition. It is an old but classic design that holds its own anywhere.
